Sissy: As this has been “one of those days” for Bubby that she has to be given Diet Coke intravenously, it’s been interesting looking at two of our favorite accessories, which are skins and covers that look like real books. Bubby has been so distracted by all the beautiful choices and then – SQUIRRELS!
Bubby: More like “Ooo! Pretty! OOO! Sparkly! Hey, did I tell you about – OOO PRETTY!” Sorry. I think the Coke is starting to kick in now…
Sissy: One can only hope! First up are Kindle covers that look like actual book covers. They all look wonderful but my particular favorites skew to classics like Pride and Prejudice and The Secret Garden. The Great Gatsby cover is lovely as well but I hate that book (sorry, literature snobs) so I’d never put that cover on my Kindle. There is also a fabulous Harry Potter themed Book of Spells cover that I am coveting at this moment!
Bubby: There are also some really nice leather options which have an old book feel but still have the folding and standing capabilities of a standard Kindle case. I’m seeing one of these on my Kindle in the near future…
Sissy: The next thing we have discovered and love are these skins from DecalGirl. There are myriad beautiful options that cover everything from sports teams to modern art and so much more. I would rather die than put a sportsing skin on my Kindle, just so you know. I prefer something more artistic or perhaps whimsical, like these choices:
Bubby: I like the fact that they attach so nicely to your device and there’s no bulk whatsoever. I haven’t put a skin on my Kindle yet but I’ve had a ton of different ones on my phone and laptop. If I put one on my Kindle I think it’ll be this one:
Sissy: No matter how pretty your Kindle looks with its new skin or cover, it is of no use whatsoever if it is dead. And if you can’t read whilst your device is charging because your cord is too short, that’s even worse, because who wants to read off their phone? I know a lot of people do but I hate it.
Bubby: That’s because you’re old and can’t see the words on a phone-sized screen. I read off my phone all the time. But I agree – you’ve got to have a good charger that’s superfast. I have a dedicated Kindle charger in my room (when the children haven’t stolen it) and it seriously charges at least twice as fast as the generic chargers we have in the rest of the house.
Sissy: Let it be known that I can see my phone screen just fine, and I am not the one in a drooling, early-onset-dementia state today. Anyway, back to the subject at hand, we give you the Amazon 9 watt super fast charger extraordinaire! Plus the 5 foot charging cable that will allow you to recline on the couch and read mid-charge. They are two of my favorite things in the universe.
Bubby: Right behind chocolate and me! (But only when I’m not drooling…) And so you have it. Three of our fave accessories to keep your Kindle up and running and looking great. I think I’ve inspired myself to go do a little shopping!
