Sissy: This book literally drove me crazy! I couldn’t put it down because I had to know what was going to happen while simultaneously wondering how the happy ending I wanted could possibly happen (does this make sense?). Let me clarify: Jenny B. Jones’ writing is so good in the Katie Parker series that I became wholly invested (pathetically so) in the characters and experienced great angst whilst waiting for the end of the story. Therefore, if you hadn’t been spurred on to read these books by our last review (of the first three books, “In Between,” “On the Loose,” “The Big Picture), then take this opportunity to give yourself a fantastic treat. Get (buy, borrow, whatever) all four books in the series and have a light and lovely literary holiday! Your family and home and all occupations will be temporarily be neglected, but you will feel great. Turn off the depressing news, buy chocolate, and read!
Bubby: I wholeheartedly agree! Things I loved about this book: The way Charlie never gives up on the love; The side story of Frances’ roller coaster engagement/wedding; the plot twists which made me insane but which I shall not here reveal; how Katie decides to take all matters into her own hands in the end. Seriously, folks–you will love this story and all the others in the Katie Parker series. I’m sorry to say goodbye to Katie Parker and gang (especially Maxine).
