A mother’s work is never done. Not while Sunny has a ghost of a chance. Her sister and brother-in-law, Honey and Bert, are good people, no worries. Sunny’s twins will have a loving home with them in Mossy Creek, a warm-hearted small town in the mountains of Georgia. But Sunny, a San Francisco voice-over artist before the accident that killed her and her husband, has bad memories of Honey and Bert’s unpredictable, autistic son, Jeremy. Will he harm her babies? Sunny’s not leaving until she’s certain they’re safe. From Netgalley.com
Sissy: I hope you didn’t get too excited, Bubby, when you started reading Gone But Not Forgotten by Sabrina Jeffries. You probably finished reading it in all of 10 minutes with your supersonic reading speed. But I would venture to guess it was a worthwhile 10 minutes of your life! Because it was a well spent half hour of mine.
Bubby: It was a delightful little novella…
Sissy: You use the word delightful way too much. You should substitute more esoteric verbage like scrumptious, ineffable, or ducky. You’re welcome.
Bubby: Ah. I see that you have appointed yourself chief vocabulary curmudgeon. How DELIGHTFUL. At any rate, my concern, at first, with this novella was the distinctively unattractive light in which it initially portrayed an autistic character.
Sissy: But you were wrong.
Bubby: Yes, as I was just about to say, snodgrass, I was wrong, and the author Sabrina Jeffries is actually the mother of an autistic child and understands the struggle more than I ever will. The story was sweet and absolutely fulfilled its purpose of making me want to check out more of the Mossy Creek series.
Sissy: You were also wrong about me being a curmudgeon. I won’t be at curmudgeon phase for another 3 1/2 years. I do agree with you about the Gone But Not Forgotten. It was a pleasing and satisfying story and I wished it was a full length book. Thus, we shall investigate more of Mossy Creek! Thank you, Sabrina Jeffries!
Bubby: I think your review was longer than the novella.
